At 90 Degree, we bring dance to a whole new level.
Ashley Dere, founder and dance instructor at Danse 90 Degree, was born in Montreal and raised in a household that never went a day without listening to Pop and Motown music. Inspired by legends like Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson and Madonna, Ashley learnt early on that her love for music could easily be translated into her natural ability to dance and create choreographies to just about any song she would hear for the very first time. Her talent combined with her technical background in Street and Ballet Jazz was soon recognized by leaders in the dance industry, and at the age of 16, Ashley was scouted by several dance schools to teach Hip Hop, a new dance style that was just emerging in the industry at that time. Since then, her passion to dance grew into a new passion- teaching, and she hasn't looked back since.
As the youngest member to ever join Montreal's professional dance troupe "DragonFly" in 2000, Ashley had the opportunity to work as a backup dancer for various artists like Monifah and Crystal Waters, as well as spearhead the City of Montreal's Cultural Hip Hop Conventions which entailed giving students from around the world the opportunity to learn and experience the city's diverse Hip Hop scene.
From 2003 to 2006, Ashley developed her love to integrate role play with her dancing when she took on the role as lead choreographer for Centraide's Annual Fundraiser Gala at the Montreal Casino.
With over 15 years of experience as a Hip Hop teacher for kids and adults of all ages and levels, Ashley is also well recognized for teaching American- Style Burlesque, a class that encompasses Jazz, Lady Styling and chair dancing. It's without a doubt, that Ashley's true personality shines when she is in front of a class teaching, encouraging and helping students follow their inspiration.
